DAVID MCGREGOR
Composer and Arranger
David McGregor (b. 1995) is an award-winning arranger and composer. His music has been performed internationally and in cathedrals and concert halls across the UK.
He read music at Girton College, University of Cambridge, graduating with a first-class degree in 2017. Following this, he studied an MA in Composition at the University of York whilst singing as a Choral Scholar at York Minster.
He went on to win a number of competitions, including the Robin Johnson Choral Composition Prize (2021) and the Harlow Chorus Composition Competition (2022). His music has been performed widely, including at Ely, Chichester, Guildford, Wells Cathedral, New College Oxford and Magdalen College Oxford. His work, "They That Love Beyond the World", was recently published by the University of York Music Press.
David founded Nova Consort, a group dedicated to championing new choral music. The group are running a composition competition for composers, with a closing date of 31 August 2024.
His work O Oriens (2021) is due for commercial release next year along with his competition-winning The Lord is My Light (2022). As well as liturgical music, he has written a number of popular, folk and Christmas arrangements, winning the Vox Arranging Competition in 2020.
